Five Years Later......

 How astonishing.

I was only thinking this morning that I really should have a look at the old WB Pippin blog, just to see if I can access it at all.

The reason for this was that Thomas, our lovely old cat, is now 16 - or will be in a couple of day's time. He has been a bit poorly of late, and, with heavy hearts, we are preparing ourselves for life without him.

One of the things I wanted to investigate was the 'Pita-Pata" counter on the blog that used to tell everyone how long he and China had been boat cats...... I fear that sooner rather than later it will need switching off, so popped my head round the door of the blog to see.

(Turns out I needn't have worried: all the add-ons like that seem to have disappeared over the last five years, which I suppose shows you what lack of maintenance can do.......)

But here's the thing: it is EXACTLY five years to the day since I last posted!

Weird......

So much has happened in that time, it's difficult to know where to start.

Perhaps it's best to just stick to the essentials: we are still living aboard the eponymous widebeam, Tom and China (the cats) are still with us, (just......), Ian Skelly read my name out on Radio Three again this morning with a suggestion for the Essential Classics 'Playlister ' piece, and the Alvis is still 'nearly finished'......

I'll try to blog again soon (well, sooner than in another five years time, anyway.....).

There have been many changes. Some for the better, some not so much.....

But we are still very much around.

The question is, are any of my readers, or am I actually doing the on-line equivalent of talking to myself in an empty pub?

That's a rather desolate image with which to finish this post......

But I remember years ago blogging about the subject of blogs (ooh, get you, coming over all meta), coming up with something like 'a blog is a message in a bottle: you cast it into the on-line sea, and know not where it will wash up, or who, if anyone, will read it.......'

{Cue SFX: splashing noise of bottle hitting the water}

Five years later, here we go again.....

:-)
